Healthy Inside and Out
About:
Did you know that obesity and other chronic diseases are a major health issue for many individuals and families in Williamson County? According to the 2019 Williamson County Community Health Assessment, 31.1% of adults in Williamson County are obese. Not only does obesity increase the risk of many diseases and health conditions including heart disease, Type 2 Diabetes, and cancer, it also increases the chance of premature death.
On Jan. 5, 2021, Williamson County Justice of the Peace – Precinct 3, Judge Evelyn McLean and Williamson County and Cities Health District (WCCHD) will host a virtual community presentation, Healthy Inside and Out, to share how chronic diseases and other preventable health conditions are affecting the Williamson County community. “As a Justice of the Peace, one of my many job duties is to conduct death inquests to determine the cause and manner of unattended deaths. Sadly, I see so many deaths due to conditions that are not only preventable, but curable. It doesn't have to be this way," says Judge McLean. In addition to Judge McLean, Dr. Satish Chundru will share his experience as a Forensic Pathologist, and detail his findings about how daily habits affect internal health. Lastly, ITS TIME TEXAS will share information about what steps you can take to start a healthy lifestyle.
During the months of January and February, Judge McLean, WCCHD, and ITS TIME TEXAS challenge you and your family to focus on getting to and maintaining a healthy weight. From Jan. 4 - Feb. 28, Judge McLean encourages all Williamson County members to participate in the ITS TIME TEXAS Community Challenge. The Community Challenge is a free 8-week challenge that allows community members to set up a team, track activity, compete against peers, and attend free virtual health events.
