Amy Grosso - Round Rock ISD

Dr. Amy Grosso is the Director of Behavioral Health Services at Round Rock ISD. Dr. Grosso completed her Ph.D. in Counseling and Counselor Education at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She started her career as a mental health counselor at Wake Forest Baptist Health. She now oversees a team of social workers and campus based mental health centers. In addition, Dr. Grosso is part of the formation of a new district police department aimed at reforming school policing by focusing on safety and security, behavioral health, equity, and student advocacy. Dr. Grosso also serves as the Board Chair for the Central Texas Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She co-authored the book Schoolwide Collaboration for Transformative Social Emotional Learning that will be coming out August 2021.

Jeffrey Yarbrough - Round Rock ISD Police Department

Jeffrey Yarbrough is the inaugural Chief of Police for the Round Rock ISD Police Department. He is a 27-year police veteran and previously served as Chief of Police and Chief Operating Officer for Bastrop ISD. Chief Yarbrough served as a sergeant in the Travis County District Attorney’s Office in the Public Integrity Unit and a sergeant with the criminal prosecution division of the Texas Attorney General’s Office. Chief Yarbrough is the former Police Chief and Assistant City Manager for the City of Tulia and served as Senior Investigator for the State Bar of Texas. He possesses a master’s degree in Educational Human Resource Development from Texas A&M University at College Station. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Brownsville with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Chief Yarbrough is a U.S. Army Veteran and served in Operation Desert Storm with the 101st Airborne Division.

Katie McCormick is a licensed social worker who obtained her BSW from Baylor University, and her MSW from the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. Katie is currently working on her PhD in Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin under the mentorship of Drs. Lori Holleran Steiker and Debbie Cohen. Katie's local research focuses on multi-level factors impacting substance use and mental health among transition-age youth and emerging adults.

Lorna Hermosura, PhD is the Principal Investigator and Project Director of STEP UP Texas: Improving Juvenile Justice Outcomes through Trauma-Informed and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Training – a project funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. STEP UP seeks to reduce Racial and Ethnic Disparities (RED) in engagement with the juvenile justice system by providing training and policy revision support to organizations in critical contact points, including school districts, law enforcement, and judicial staff. STEP UP currently serves Williamson County, Texas and is a partnership between IUPRA, Williamson County Juvenile Services, and Bluebonnet Trails Community Services. In addition, Dr. Hermosura teaches Restorative Practices in the College of Education as an Asst. Professor of Instruction. Her research areas are Restorative Practices, Trauma-Informed Practices, Implementation, and the School-to-Prison Pipeline. Dr. Hermosura holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy from UT, an M.S. in Counseling from San Francisco State University, and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego. Prior to earning her doctorate, Dr. Hermosura worked for over a decade directing programs that support college access, college success, and dropout prevention for low-income students.

Matt Smith - Williamson County Juvenile Services

Matt Smith is the Assistant Executive Director for the Williamson County Juvenile Services Department in Georgetown, Texas. Matt is a certified Juvenile Probation Officer and a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in English & Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1996 and his Master’s Degree in Human Services with a focus in Professional Counseling from St. Edward’s University in 2001. Matt began working in juvenile justice in 2001 as an Associate Psychologist with the Texas Youth Commission at Brownwood State School. He has worked for the Williamson County Juvenile Services Department for the past nineteen years having held previous positions as a specialized juvenile probation officer (mental health and substance use), counselor, program supervisor, facility administrator, Director of Field Services, and Director of Mental Health Services. Matt also serves as the co-chair for the Williamson County Youth Behavioral Health Taskforce. Matt is a founding member of Resilient Wilco, a local initiative focused on educating the community about the impact of Adverse Childhood Experience (ACEs). He is certified as an ACE Interface Master Trainer through UT Teen Health in San Antonio and a Level 1 & 2 Trauma-Informed Certification Trainer through Community Resilience Initiative. Matt is a member of the Georgetown Health Foundation Board of Directors. He serves on the Dual Status Task Force of the Children’s Commission of the Texas Supreme Court and as a Collaborative Council member of the Texas Judicial Commission on Mental Health.
