Description
WeViva, a non-profit in Austin, Texas, provides free fitness and nutrition classes with a special focus on low-income minority adults who tend to have higher rates of obesity and diabetes. Classes are conducted by bilingual professional fitness instructors and nutritionists on-site in communities, so participants do not have to travel to attend them.
Goal / Mission
The mission is to provide affordable and accessible fitness and nutrition programs to people in low-income communities.
Results / Accomplishments
WeViva offers over 25 fitness classes and approximately 5 nutrition classes per week. The program runs at 18 different locations in the Austin area, and also provides child care services at some locations.
